Welcome to Flinn Family Dogs!

Hello! We are so excited to introduce our website!

Here's a quick introduction on us, the owners!

Kurtis was born and raised in Harrisville, UT. He grew up in a hunting family. He has very fond memories of hunting with his uncles and grandfather. He loves all things animals. He always had a dog growing up, which is where Kurtis discovered his love of the animal. He truly believes that dogs are Man's Best Friend. He is very proud of his dogs, as well as the two cows he is raising.

Jessica was born in California, but was raised in South Jordan, UT. She was a part of a big family, and she also had dogs growing up. Her fondest memory of one of her childhood dogs was after a bad break-up, she was crying in her room. Her boxer/lab mix Roxie started scratching at her door, so Jessica opened the door and let the dog in, and the dog just laid with her while she cried.

Kurtis and Jessica met while serving LDS missions in Philadelphia, PA. We became fast friends, and after we both returned home, we started dating and fell in love. We were married in the Bountiful, UT Temple on September 12, 2015. We have since welcomed two beautiful children, Annie, who is 4, and Charles, who is almost 18 months.

We bought our first dog together after suffering a miscarriage in between our two children. We knew relatively quickly after bringing her home that we wanted to breed her. We wanted to help others feel the companionship that we felt through having a dog in the family. Our kids both love the dogs as much as we do.

Thank you for supporting us in something we are passionate about! Check back often to see updates!

Second Litter Details!

Here is a breakdown of each puppy, and all the details surrounding them that we have as of today (January 18, 2021). We are not naming the puppies, but we call them by the color of their collar. :)

This little cutie is our red fox female. "White" is going for $450. She is a little bit more on the anxious side. She didn't like being away from her momma. She whined as the pictures were being taken, but she calmed down as soon as she was picked up.

This pup is our red fox male. "Red" is going for $400. He was very calm through the whole "photo shoot". He was very curious though. He was constantly moving, and that is why the pictures didn't turn out quite as clear as his sister's. He is also a few shades darker than his fellow red sibling.

This very stoic pup is our chocolate male. "Blue" is going for $350. He was very serious. He didn't seem to care about his surroundings, more about the fact that he was being held and he liked it!

This handsome guy is our black male. "Orange" is going for $350. He was VERY happy. He wouldn't stop smiling! He was calm in Kurtis's hands and just seemed very chill.

This puppy is one of our black females. "Green" is going for $400. She didn't fuss or whine, but she has a little attitude. She did NOT want her picture taken, and you can tell from that cute little RBF.

This cutie is another one of the black females. "Yellow" is going for $400. She is a very happy puppy. She was very calm and smiling during this whole exchange.

"Brown" is another black female. She is going for $400. She was a little bit more on the nervous side. She whined for a couple seconds, but then calmed down. I think she may have just been mad that we woke her up!

"Grey" is the last of our puppies. She is a black female, and she is going for $400. She just seemed neutral about the whole thing.

Our Second Litter!

Hooray!! Our second litter is here! We had eight puppies born to Lou and Skrewt on January 4th, 2021. It was the perfect way to start off a new year!

Lou had been laboring all day on January 3rd. She was restless, clingy, and nesting. We had been monitoring her temperature for the week leading up to the birth, and when it finally dropped below 100 degrees, we knew the time was coming. We checked on her regularly, but it didn't seem like anything was progressing. We knew that labor can take anywhere from 12-24 hours, so we weren't worried. We knew that if she hadn't given birth by the morning of the 4th, we were all ready to call the vet. We woke up on the 4th to 8 beautiful puppies, already cleaned and fed. Lou did such a great job! We aren't sure what time the puppies were born, but it was sometime in the middle of the night.

We had the dew claws removed on January 6th. It was there that we found out that we have 5 little girls and 3 little boys. This was a little bit of a shock since the last litter only had one girl. We are so thrilled!

Our Sweet Newt

We chose to keep Newt from our first litter. Our original reason was because he was a chocolate, and we didn't have one of those yet. But it has turned into so much more than that.

We both struggle with depression. Jessica's depression is a more mild case, and Kurtis's depression is a little bit more debilitating. Newt has been a HUGE help to Kurtis's mental health. Newt is the epitome of a "companion dog". He follows Kurtis around like his life depends on it. Kurtis and Newt have an incredible connection.

Newt is now almost 2 years old, and we are so happy with the way he has turned out. He is our best behaved dog, and he is just a good boy! We love him so much!

Our First Litter!!

In April of 2018, we started noticing some changes in Lou. She wasn't eating as much as she had been, and she was a lot more restless. We were new at breeding dogs, so Google helped us realize that she was most likely pregnant. We set up an appointment with the vet to get an ultrasound to not only tell us how far along she was, but to also find out how many puppies we should expect.

On April 28th, 2019, we went to check on her, and lo and behold, she had had the puppies! Our vet appointment was set for the next morning! We hurried and cancelled that appointment, and we were so excited! We didn't want to overwhelm her too much, so we let her be, but we could count 6 little puppies in her doghouse!

The first couple months of these puppies' lives went so fast. Lou had two black puppies, one chocolate, two yellows (one of which had one black leg), and one red fox. We loved the time we had with those cute puppies. They grew so fast!

We were able to give each of these puppies a home. :)

The Blake Family chose one of the sweet black pups. They chose the name Drax for him.

Jessica's sister Emily chose this cute puppy. She gave him the name Noah. After a few months, Emily felt unable to give the dog everything he deserved, and she then gave the puppy to her friend.

The Steele family chose the red fox puppy. This was like a match made in heaven. These cute girls connected with this puppy very quickly, and we knew this puppy would be well cared for.

The Voss family chose one of the yellow puppies. They have a family of special needs, and they  had decided to put this puppy through service dog training. This puppy's name is Yoshi.

Lindy came down with her friend to pick up our cute (and only) female puppy. She was going to be used as a therapy dog. The connection between the two was so special!

We chose to keep the chocolate puppy, and we will put up a post about our sweet dog :)

One of the biggest regrets we have about the first litter was not keeping in contact with our buyers. We would love to know how each of these puppies are doing, but unfortunately that's not possible. With our coming litters, we plan on doing our best to keep in contact with each of the buyers so we can post updates and see how those sweet dogs are doing :)

Our Handsome Stud, Skrewt

Skrewt was the second dog that we bought together. He is an AKC registered Red Fox American Labrador.

We adopted Skrewt from a man who was unable to care for him the way that Skrewt deserved. His original name was Rollo Red Paws. In fact, that's still the name on his AKC paperwork. We renamed him Skrewt, partly because we felt his other name was a mouthful, and also because we wanted him to be ours in every way. We chose the name Skrewt because of the Harry Potter books. (In the Harry Potter books, there is a creature that Hagrid looks after called a Blast-Ended Skrewt, and we thought this was fitting for our boy!)

Skrewt was born on October 23, 2017. He was just over a year old when we adopted him. We wanted to get a stud so we could start breeding Lou, and Skrewt seemed to be the perfect fit. The two dogs took to each other quickly.

Skrewt is very much the Alpha Male. He doesn't like it when people mess with Lou, or anyone for that matter. He very much wants to be a part of whatever is going on. He loves playing, or retrieving, but he doesn't care for being loved on. He just wants to be played with, and he has an incredible energy level.

Skrewt is now almost 3 1/2, and he is such a good boy. We were lucky to find him when we did. He is a great companion animal, and we love him so much!

Our Beautiful Dam, Lou

We thought we would start out the blog by doing some background info on the dogs we currently own, and use for breeding. The first dog we bought together was Lou.

Lou is a Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix. She was born in early January 2018. We bought Lou when she was 6 weeks old, and we were able to bring her home on Valentine's Day. She was such a sweet puppy. She was the runt of her litter, but she was only smaller by a fraction. She was originally named Cabela by her breeder. They wanted us to keep it, but we felt that Lou was a better fit, and we stand by that.

Lou came at a very difficult point in our lives. We found out we were pregnant with our second child on Christmas Eve, 2017. We were overjoyed. After a few weeks of anxious waiting and excitement, we were told that there was no heartbeat. We were heartbroken. It was a very trying and emotional time.

We had always talked about getting a dog, and we felt like this would be a good time. While the hole is still there, Lou sewed us up. She brought so much joy into our lives. She was so precious!

Now our sweet Lou is 3 years old! She just had her second litter, and she is just as sweet as always. She is such a good momma to those puppies. It comes very natural to her, and she caters to those puppies like there is nothing else in the world. She carries such a big part of our hearts.

Lou loves being the center of attention. She always greets with a hug and a big smile. She won't leave you alone until you give her sufficient loving! But she is such a good dog, and we are so blessed to have her.

Update On Our Second Litter!

Can you believe that those sweet puppies are now 6 months old?! We can't hardly believe it! They have grown so much! Let me go over eac...
